Welcome Remarks

We at Tiyende Safari and Tours are pleased to be in touch with you and we welcome you onboard this 2days 1night Group Safari of Liwonde National Park.
Although only 220 sq miles (580 sq km), Liwonde is perhaps the most popular of all of Malawi’s game parks, with its beautiful riverine setting and teeming wildlife offering thrilling safaris. Wildlife viewing is enhanced because the River Shire flows along its western border, allowing boat safaris as well as the usual ones on foot or in 4x4s.
Wildlife includes quite large numbers of elephants and the river attracts countless hippos and crocodiles. Lion and cheetah have been recently reintroduced into Liwonde with the aid of African Parks who took over management of the Park in 2015 and who continue to turn Liwonde into a first class safari location.
Antelope include kudu, sable and bushbuck. Leopards, hyaena and black rhino are also occasionally spotted. Birdlife is exceptionally varied. The river attracts fish eagles and weaver birds build their nests in the thin woodland. Pel’s fishing owl is often seen at dusk along the river’s edge.
Liwonde National Park offers one of the densest concentrations of wildlife in Africa! You will have the opportunity to spot a lot of elephant as the park hosts around 900!

Boat safaris: Liwonde National park is very renowned for its boat safari during which you will have the opportunity to get very close to hippos and crocs but also experience the amazing birdlife.
Game drives: Game drives are also offered by lodges located in Liwonde, this offers an opportunity to cover more ground and get closer to the land animals.
Walking safaris: Guided by a professional, stomp through the bush and get closer to nature than ever before, experience Liwonde from a different perspective and appreciate the smaller flora and fauna that makes up the eco-system.
Liwonde is a must-do for those who want a top notch safari away from the crowds. There are just 3 lodges within the park which means you can get close to the wildlife without the company of several other safari vehicles.
Liwonde is a conservation success story and with each day it is getting better, watch as the animal populations thrive! Are you an avid twitcher? Some specialists say it offers the best bird watching in Southern Africa.
